What is an EC Fan?

EC stands for Electronically Commutated. An EC fan is essentially a fan with a brushless DC motor which runs on a normal AC supply. EC fans are driven by energy-saving motors with an EC unit which means they operate at optimal efficiency. To put this into perspective, the efficiency of an EC fan is 80 - 90% where as an equivalent AC fan will only achieve between 60 - 75%. Using an EC fan means you will make big cost savings over the lifetime of the fan. 

This 10" EC Inline Fan will only use up to half the power of an equivalent 10" Inline AC fan and produce half the heat.
